Ship automation systems contain a variety of electronic equipment such as: engine instruments, navigational instruments, fish detectors, GPS receivers, autopilots, wind instruments, multimedia displays, safety systems, transducers, and nautical chart plotters, etc. The DeviceNet/NMEA 2000 standard defines two sizes of cables for the connection of shipboard equipment, the Min (7/8 ") and Micro (M12) series.
